Wirth Chairman of the Board and CEO past honorees Darren Woods 2025 Chairman and CEO, ExxonMobil BACK TO ALL PEOPLE NEXT Darren Woods Chairman and CEO, ExxonMobil A native of Wichita, Kansas, Darren Woods holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University. He joined Exxon in 1992 as a planning analyst and steadily advanced through global leadership roles in the company’s refining and chemical divisions, where his contributions proved instrumental to ExxonMobil’s strategic growth and sustained profitability. Mr. Woods was appointed president of ExxonMobil Refining and Supply Company and vice president of Exxon Mobil Corporation in 2012, elected senior vice president in 2014, and became president and a member of the board in 2016. He has served as chairman and chief executive officer since January 1, 2017. A committed advocate for long term planning in a dynamic industry, Mr. Woods champions the role of American innovation in shaping the future of global energy. He currently chairs the National Petroleum Council and serves on the boards of the American Petroleum Institute, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and other leading organizations.
