Energy 2020: Black Swans and Elephants in the Room

Energy consumers, policy makers and investors are carefully assessing the trade-offs between traditional fossil fuels and newer, less carbon-intensive energy solutions. These analyses have been recently complicated by the response to a pandemic, the uncertainty surrounding a presidential election, socio-economic upheaval, and supply / demand impacts in Russia, China, Saudi Arabia and the US. The choices to be made and the trade-offs they entail are far less clear than the different energy mix proponents suggest.
Out of all of this, contrary to the current hyperbole, emerges an “energy system” that could offer more choices and be more robust. We will explore both the black swans facing energy, as well as the obvious elephants in the room, as we consider technology, policy and economic trade-offs for our collective energy future.
The program will feature speakers and presentations from John Hall (Director, Regulatory & Legislative Affairs, Environmental Defense Fund), Sean O'Donnell (Managing Director, Quantum Energy Partners), Suzanne Sitherwood (President & CEO, Spire), Doug Terreson (Head of Energy Research, Evercore ISI), Congressman Bill Flores, Congressman Marc Veasey and more.
